About Rob Roderick

I build financial products that help people get ahead. Today I lead credit and lending products at Cleo, and I'm the founder of Cash Balancer, a free iOS app that helps young adults get out of debt. I started it on a simple belief: the people who most need help with money shouldn't have to pay for it or hand over their bank login to get it.

Before that I was the first product hire at Mesa, led buy now, pay later virtual cards at Cash App and Afterpay from launch to $3.7B in annual purchase volume, launched a borderless bank account at BBVA, co-founded the safety app Noonlight, and spent three years on TurboTax and Mint at Intuit building programs that helped people improve their finances. I started in product in 2010 at Plum District, then Deem and AgLocal, and led product and engineering at Breathometer, the first company funded by all five sharks on Shark Tank.

I took my first college class at 12, finished two years of college by 16, and went on to earn a B.S. in Business Entrepreneurship and an M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco.

I live for the mountains. I moved to Lake Tahoe to learn to fly and became a certificated pilot in December 2022. I've been on skis since I was 2 and now spend 60 or more days a year on a snowboard. The rest of the time I'm hiking, climbing, cycling or camping with Lobo, my goofy Siberian husky.

In my free time I build software, like Cash Balancer, and small hacks that make my everyday life, finances and health better. I'm also an average chef who makes an excellent PB&J and grilled cheese.

I've put in more than 1,000 hours of community service helping low-income children and the elderly, and I donate plasma and platelets regularly with my rare AB+ blood. My motto: work hard and be nice.
